TIDE 24M

Funktional und modern.

Design commentary on the Tide 24 PFH

The exterior design of the Tide24 PFH is functional and modern, but not overly progressive. The design language is strongly based on the Tide 25, which makes the Tide 24 PFH immediately recognizable as a member of the MFH family. A key feature of the TIDE24-M is the PFH hull, which offers up to 30% less resistance than pure displacement hulls, even in the semi-planing range. This is particularly advantageous when electric drives are installed. Lower power can be installed for the same speed, which saves weight and, above all, the still high costs of the drive components, or significantly increases the range.

Compared to pure displacement hulls, speeds of around 14-15 knots are possible with very low drive power. The PFH hull was developed and refined by experts over many years of research work in computer simulations, towing tests (Hamburg Shipbuilding Research Institute), free-running measurements (YD von Ahlen), and on built models (some of them built by MFH). With traditional sloops, boarding is designed for a lying position alongside. The Tide 24 PFH can open the bow with a flap, making boarding comfortable and, above all, safe.

A removable, generously sized grab rail provides reassurance when stepping on or off the gangway. The stern can also be opened completely, revealing a large platform that serves as a “terrace on the water” for swimming and relaxing. Optionally, the helm seat can be removed on one or both sides, leaving the stern completely open. A toilet is provided for a relaxing day out on the water. This is enclosed in the forward cabin and cannot be seen from outside. Various solutions can be installed here, from a simple chemical toilet to a dry separation toilet or even a marine toilet with a holding tank and suction system.

The cabin also offers dry, theft-proof storage space and a berth with a length of 2 m. Depending on the toilet design, there may even be two berths, allowing two people to sleep overnight. Without upholstery, the cabin can also be converted for storage or as a pure toilet room with a washbasin. In addition to a cool box, the Tide 24 PFH is equipped with a sink/washbasin and running water, as is standard for its class.
The front U-shaped seating area can be covered with a sprayhood. An optional connecting tarpaulin closes off the space up to the engine compartment/steering position.

BOWRIDER | There is a seat with an unobstructed view in the bow area.
RECEIVED FOREDECK | The foredeck is recessed, providing a safe standing area, even when mooring.
BOARDING | The bow hatch (optional) swings down to provide a step for easy boarding via the bow.
WALKAROUND | The retractable gangway provides safe access to the foredeck.
CABIN The fore section has space for a berth and plenty of dry storage space.
TOILET | There is a private toilet in the cabin.

The Tide 24 PFH can be equipped with diesel engines ranging from 19 to 27 hp (14–20 kW), which are mounted centrally in the engine box with steering position, which can be removed for maintenance. They are equipped with Saildrive for easy installation and maintenance. However, the PFH hull really comes into its own in combination with electric drives, enabling it to reach top speeds.

A central electric pod with up to 30 kW can be installed in the engine compartment instead of the diesel engine, with the batteries located next to it in the benches. Underneath the functional modules (sink/cool box), one pod with up to 15 kW can be combined with another to form a twin engine system. This greatly increases maneuverability in the harbor.
